          Now that I have your attention either positively or negatively let us discuss what happens in February.

​

                                                     ~  Lent 2024 ~

​

          For Lent, the Church gives us a slogan - Prayer, Fasting, and Almsgiving- as the three things we need to work on during the Lenten season.

So here are some thoughts and suggestions for what Lent can be.

• It is a time of Prayer. We can spread out acts of prayer over 40 days. We can commit to going on a journey, one that hopefully brings us closer to Christ.

• It is time to fast. What are you giving up for Lent? Hot Dogs? Beer? Let us not make it a game but make fasting a form of penance for a mistake we might have made during the week.

• Do not do too much. Let us not overdo our fasting goals but keep our goals simple and focused.

• Reach out to Charity. Almsgiving is more than throwing a few extra dollars on the collection plate; it is about reaching out to others and helping them without question.

 

So, my favorite Deacon Clyde Homily let us do the following during Lent.

• Get in the Car parked in the garage. (We are making a Commitment)

• Start the Car and Drive It. (Our Journey to Church)

• Put on the Radio. (Sing which is Praying Twice)

• Avoid Fast Food Restaurants. (Fasting)

• Pick up a Neighbor and take them to Church. (Almsgiving)

And if you Stumble Along the Way.
